SPAS is een door de EU gefinancierd project om kleine en middelgrote bedrijven uit de levensmiddelen sector te ondersteunen bij participatie in Internationale onderzoeks- en innovatieprojecten.

Als uw bedrijf werkzaam is in de levensmiddelensector en de volgende thema's voor u van belang zijn:

Innoveren,
samenwerken met andere MKB bedrijven,
oplossingen vinden in Internationale werkgroepen,
contact onderhouden met kennisinstellingen,
de huidige stand van EU subsidiemogelijkheden,

dan kunt u hier terecht.

Deze service van SPAS op het internet wordt u kosteloos aangeboden. Meldt u aan voor toegang tot alle informatie. Als eerste stap kunt u een korte vragenlijst invullen waarmee wij u gerichter kunnen ondersteunen. Deze vragenlijst is in het Engels direct via het internet in te vullen via volgende link: Direct naar de vragenlijst in het Engels. Ook kunt u er voor kiezen de lijst te downloaden en deze ingevuld te versturen naar de Nederlandse partner in het project (gegevens, zie de te downloaden lijst).

Organizational Strengths and Weaknesses

SWOT Analysis (taken from http://marketingteacher.com/Lessonstore.htm)

SWOT analysis is a marketing audit that considers an organization's strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. Our introductory lesson gives you the basics of how to complete your SWOT as you begin to learn about marketing tools. As you learn more about SWOT analysis, you will become aware of a number of potential limitations with this popular tool.

In SWOT, strengths and weaknesses are internal factors. For example:

A strength could be:

Your specialist marketing expertise.

A new, innovative product or service.

Location of your business.

Quality processes and procedures.

Any other aspect of your business that adds value to your product or service.

A weakness could be:

Lack of marketing expertise.

Undifferentiated products or services (i.e. in relation to your competitors).

Location of your business.

Poor quality goods or services.

Damaged reputation.

In SWOT, opportunities and threats are external factors. For example:

An opportunity could be:

A developing market such as the Internet.

Mergers, joint ventures or strategic alliances.

Moving into new market segments that offer improved profits.

A new international market.

A market vacated by an ineffective competitor.

A threat could be:

A new competitor in your home market.

Price wars with competitors.

A competitor has a new, innovative product or service.

Competitors have superior access to channels of distribution.

Taxation is introduced on your product or service.

A word of caution, SWOT analysis can be very subjective. Do not rely on SWOT too much. Two people rarely come-up with the same final version of SWOT. So use SWOT as guide and not a prescription.

Simple rules for successful SWOT analysis.

Be realistic about the strengths and weaknesses of your organization when conducting SWOT analysis.

SWOT analysis should distinguish between where your organization is today, and where it could be in the future.

SWOT should always be specific. Avoid grey areas.

Always apply SWOT in relation to your competition i.e. better than or worse than a your competition.

Keep your SWOT short and simple. Avoid complexity and over analysis

SWOT is subjective.

Forest-Based Sector (Web)

This platform is established in February 2005 and is a federation of the European Confederation of Woodworking Industries (CEI-Bois), the Confederation of European Forest Owners (CEPF) and the Confederation of European Paper Industries (CEPI). The aim is at defining and implementing the sector’s R&D roadmap for the future and is supported by a wide range of stakeholders. The Forest-based sector technology platform is an industry-driven process, embedded in industry reality, and supporting the sector’s strategy. The platform covers the area of the forestry, wood and paper industry.

Thematic focuses are:
- Multifunctional forest cultivation
- Technological innovations for new and improved qualities of wood surfaces
- Timber joints and construction materials
- Development of production technology, which are more efficiently and alternative application areas of cellulose and paper

The Vision Document 2030 (LINK) was officially published in the launching event of the Forest-based sector Technology Platform on 15th February 2005 in Brussels in the context of the FBI Forum. To realise the Strategic Research Agenda (SRA) (LINK) which exists since February 2006, an "Implementation Planning Task Force" is established.

The structure of this ETP is very different to many other ETPs, because it's built up on national TPs.

The national Platform for Austria is led by Austropapier.

Global Animal Health (Web)

This Platform is a joint initiative of industry and the research community and is actively encouraged by the European Commission services. The Platform is led by IFAH-Europe (International Federation for Animal Health, Europe) and integrates all relevant stakeholders at EU and national levels, from academia, research, farmers, veterinarians, industry, consumers, regulators, etc.
The Platform aims to facilitate and accelerate the development and distribution of the most effective tools to control animal diseases of major importance to Europe and the rest of the world. It should thereby improve animal health and welfare, food safety, human health, market access and contributing to achieving the Millennium Development Goals.

The Vision 2015 document (LINK) of the Platform was published in 2005.The Strategic Research Agenda (SRA) (LINK) is closely attached to the Animal Health Strategy 2007-2013 and exists since May 2006.

SusChem (Web)

SusChem (Sustainable Chemistry) seeks to boost chemistry and chemical engineering research, development and innovation in Europe. Stakeholder of this Technology Platform is Europe Bio, which presents amongst others the pharmaceutical, food and agro food, chemical and textile industry.

Three technological topics were identified:
- Industry Biotechnology
- Materials science and technology
- Process design

The final SusChem vision document (LINK) is available since February 2005. The SusChem vision document has been endorsed by more than 30 organisations.

The final Strategic Research Agenda (SRA) (LINK) is available since November 2005. The SRA has been endorsed by more than 150 stakeholders from all over Europe.

Periodic Activity Report (Partner Level)

The periodic activity report is a report where the partner summarizes annually the specific contribution to the project in terms of work package progress and specific outputs. This report will be collated from every partner and serve as an overview on the overall progress of the project.

Periodic Management Report (Work package Level)

The periodic management report is a brief description of the work performed during the reporting period, which should be addressed at the work package level, and the work specification should be detailed enough to justify the resources employed.
This report should take into account any major cost items such as important equipment purchases, major travel costs, large consumable items etc., justifying their necessity to the project.

Financial Statement

Form A – A detailed Actual/Budget Cost table with variance explanations.
Form C – An EC Form giving summary Static, Cost and Receipts Information with specific reference to Audit Certification.

The broad objective is to provide a detailed justification of the costs incurred and of the resources deployed in the first year by each partner, linking these to activities and justifying their necessity.

Financial Audit

Every partner is obliged to deliver an audit certificate either at the end of the project or annually if the funding will exceed 150.000 €. The audit certificate has to be submitted with the Form C and must cover the costs incurred during all precedent periods for which audit certificates have not been provided.

Final Report

Each partner is obliged to deliver according to the work packages a final report at the end of the project.
